• "The American Wing in the Metropolitan Museum” with Dr. Snjezana Smodlaka, Ph.D.
    Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2025 from 7 to 8:30 PM
Join Dr. Snjezana Smodlaka for a captivating lecture that explores one of New York City’s greatest artistic treasures—the American Wing of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Dr. Smodlaka will guide attendees through the Wing’s highlights, from celebrated paintings, sculptures, and stained glass to beautifully crafted furniture, textiles, and jewelry. The lecture will also delve into the Wing’s 20 immersive period rooms—some dating back to 1680—offering a rare glimpse into the artistic and cultural life of early America.
More than a collection of objects, the American Wing tells a vivid visual story of the nation’s past, revealing how artists captured pivotal moments, regional identities, and the evolving American spirit. Discover how art reflects history, culture, and identity in this enriching and insightful presentation.
