Building upon our recent screening of Romeo & Juliet (1968) at Casa Belvedere’s Cinema Sotto Le Stelle series, this program invites participants to explore a wide range of interpretations of Shakespeare’s iconic work. By experiencing Romeo and Juliet through various art forms – such as staged plays, films, ballets, operas, symphonies, and musicals – we gain a deeper appreciation for the creative powers and genius of diverse artists, including actors, singers, dancers, directors, filmmakers, and set designers. Through comparative juxtapositions of similar scenes and characters’ actions, emotions, thoughts, words, and moods, we can truly appreciate the timelessness and adaptability of this classic love story. Join us as we delve into these diverse versions, including the operatic one of Shakespeare’s timeless tale!
