About the cast

Beppe Allocca (Actor, Director) defines himself as a Theatrical Craftsman to illustrate his passions as a knitwear craftsman in Prato as well as a monologist. His show is about his work as a craftsman (the story of the rag-pickers of Prato) and his travels around Italy to markets and fairs to sell the objects he produces. Alloca believes that markets are a form of theater and tells complicated and bizarre stories lightened with a comic and entertaining approach.

Roberta Provenzani (Director) founded the Le Patrizie APS Cultural Association with Martina Marone in 2017, giving life to a social, cultural and artistic reality, the basis of a life and work project. In 2020, they opened the Patrizie acting school. In 2021, Provenzani directed the opera “Le destin de Carmen” at the Teatro Argentina in Rome. In 2023, she and Marrone opened STUDIO SEI – Art, Culture Show, a company for entertainment training and production. She currently directs the rising star of the Italian comedy scene, Giuseppe Allocca, in his “Genesi del Rigenero”, with which won the “Fringe Award” at the Rome Fringe Festival in 2023.

English translations and English supertitles have been provided by Isabel Cellati and Fabrizio Giannuolo (translation), Isabel Cellati (subtitles), students of Civica Scuola Interpreti e Traduttori Altiero Spinelli – Milano as part of a tutored educational program led by In Scena! Italian Theater Festival NY.

About IN SCENA!

In Scena! began in 2013, the year of Italian Culture in the United States, by Kairos Italy Theater, KIT Italia and Casa Italiana Zerilli-Marimo’ at New York University in collaboration with the Italian Embassy. Each year in New York City, In Scena! presents a survey of the best Italian theater. The festival features full productions that have already toured in Italy as well as readings of Italian plays in translation, lectures, and exchanges between Italian and International artists.

The goal is to promote greater awareness of Italian theater and Italian artists among New York City theatergoers, and to build a bridge between the artistic scenes in Italy and the US. In Scena! has also brought Italian theater to Washington DC, Boston, Detroit, Los Angeles, San Diego, Santa Rosa, Calgary and Lethbridge (Alberta, Canada). Now, in its 11th edition, the Festival arrives in Toronto while still performing in New York City’s five boroughs.
