    Our Return to Italy
Tuesday, August 8 at 8 pm

Wondering about moving to Italy? Or learning about winemaking? Join us for OUR RETURN TO ITALY (2023, 25 minutes), a film screening and discussion with filmmakers Marylou and Jerome Bongiorno.

Our Return to Italy is a short fictional film about an Italian American patriarch who wants to uproot his multigenerational family winemaking business to Italy but hides the truth about his motives.

Before the screening, Robert Rispoli from Vino Divino winery in Staten Island will introduce you to the winemaking world. Wine will be sold at this Cinema event to benefit the Italian Cultural Foundation at Casa Belvedere, graciously donated by Vino Divino. Founded in 2003. Vino Divino is the first school of wine to open in Richmond County.

Movie synopsis: Francesco Santangelo’s family is rooted in his New Jersey winery, but he’s decided to uproot the entire family and move operations to where he was born in Lombardy, Italy. His granddaughter Emma knows nothing about the move, although she’ll be thrilled because she’s a budding documentary filmmaker whose life is steeped in famous Italian films.
