The Fall 2021 session starts the week of October 4, 2021.

All course offerings will be held in person at Casa Belvedere

Both children and adults benefit from learning a second language. Research shows that children who learn a second language are better at solving problems and are more creative. They learn how to read faster and are generally more confident than other children. The multiple cognitive benefits translate to higher scores on standardized tests. As for adults, some studies show that stimulating the brain with a new language can slow age-related cognitive decline.  Learning a second language in a class setting has the added benefit of fun socialization.

With its doors closed, fans across the globe are looking for a chance to reconnect with some of their favorite stars and shows. The Lion King, and The Producers—shows that changed the history of the American theater.

Broadway has triumphs and disasters, but the show always goes on.

Michael Riedel presents the drama behind every mega-hit or shocking flop, bringing readers into high-stakes premieres, fraught rehearsals, tough contract negotiations, intense Tony Award battles, and more. From the bitter feuds to the surprising collaborations, all the intrigue of a revolutionary era in the Theater District is packed into SINGULAR SENSATION.

Writing Workshop – “Writing the Italian in Your Memories”

    10:00 AM-11:45 AM
    10/02/2021
“Writing the Italian in Your Memories”: Fall Edition

    Laboratorio di Scrittura, Writing Workshop
    Saturdays, October 2, 16 and 30, 2021: 10:00-11:45am

The workshop will take place in the cottage on the left side of the mansion, which can be reached by following the paved sidewalk and stairs.

All On-site at Casa Belvedere with Zoom option. If you are interested in participating via Zoom, email beatrice@casa-belvedere.org
No experience necessary, just a notebook and pen!

When we look back on our past, whether a year or decades ago, our stories are often intertwined with our culture—its richness, expectations, challenges and humor. During each workshop, led by author Maria Giura, we’ll focus on how one aspect of Italian American (IA) life—identity, travel, holidays—forms the background or foreground of our memories.

We’ll read and discuss short, vibrant excerpts written by IA authors. Participants will then be given prompts to generate their own writing and, by the end of each workshop, will have produced an original piece of writing. In-person enrollment limited to 10 participants. P.S. You don’t have to be Italian to write about how Italy may be part of your memories!

Register for one, two, or all three workshops.
    Part 1: Sat., Oct. 2
    Part 2: Sat. Oct. 16
    Part 3: Sat. Oct. 30
