    Singing (“Senza Parole”) Without Words

    The sound of a singing human voice can give much pleasure; and when one is expressing words that have special or dramatic meaning, one’s experience can be greatly enhanced. There are times, however, when a specific text ends and the singer continues on with “la, la, las” or other non-verbal sounds.  This presentation will explore those times in Opera and Songs when words stop and non-words continue vocalizing that’s pleasurable! We’ll even hear some “Doo Wop” where the non-words will bring back great memories!

    Four-Course dinner includes wine and soft drinks.

    Tuesday, September 21 at 8 pm

    The charismatic Gianni Di Gregorio stars in his directorial debut – an utterly charming tale of great food, feisty ladies, and unlikely friendships during a very Roman holiday. Broke, and armed with only a glass of wine and a wry sense of humor, middle-aged Gianni resides with his 93-year-old mother in their ancient apartment. The condo debts are mounting, but if Gianni looks after the building manager’s mother during the Pranzo di Ferragosto (Italy’s biggest summer holiday, and the Feast of the Assumption), all will be forgiven. But the manager also shows up with an auntie, and then a doctor friend appears with his mother. Can Gianni keep four such lively mamas well fed and happy in these cramped quarters?
