    SPECIAL OPENING NIGHT! Team Marco

Tuesday, July 13 at 8 pm – Watch the movie and meet the director!

Filmed entirely on Staten Island, including Casa Belvedere, Team Marco is the debut feature film from Boro Five, founded by writer/director Julio Vincent Gambuto, who grew up in Rossville on the South Shore.

Young Marco is obsessed with playing video games and hardly leaves the house. But when his grandfather moves in, Marco’s life is turned upside-down, and he’s forced to go play outside. Nonno introduces him to bocce – the world’s oldest game – and to the neighborhood crew of old-school seniors who play daily at the local court. With sport, laughter and love, Marco finds connection to other people “in real life” and rounds up a team of neighborhood kids to take on his grandfather and his pals. Appropriate for ages 9 to 99. Stanno Tutti Bene – Everything is Fine (1990) by Giuseppe Tornatore

Tuesday, July 20 at 8 pm

Matteo Scuro, a retired Sicilian bureaucrat and opera buff, has been stood up by his five adult children during the summer vacation, all of whom live in various cities on the Italian mainland with what he believes are responsible jobs. His children are named after popular opera characters: Tosca for Puccini’s Tosca, Canio for Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci, Norma for Bellini’s Norma, Guglielmo for Rossini’s Guglielmo Tell, and Alvaro for Verdi’s La forza del destino. Despite their not visiting and the neighbors’ criticisms, he remains optimistic, considering that his children could not come because they are too busy. He decides to surprise each of them with a visit, traveling by train, and finds none of them as he imagined, with each of his children seeming to reflect the opera character after whom they were named.

    About the Video Presentation:
A Video Essay on The Operatic Voice Intuitively, we all know what a great voice sounds like.  Most of us don’t have one, although some of us think we do!  A great voice is a blessing from God to a few special singers who work hard to develop it and then share it with those of us lucky enough to hear and appreciate it.  This presentation will explore examples from Opera, “Pop” Broadway, Film & TV, demonstrating both great and not-so-great singing for you to be inspired and amused!

Three-Course dinner includes wine and soft drinks.
