Echoes of Greatness: Annual Remembrance of Enrico Caruso, Aldo Mancusi, & Tour of the Caruso Gallery

Born 153 years ago, Caruso continues to be recognized as one of the world’s greatest singers ever. His recordings are over 100 years old, yet people still listen to them, even as he recorded them at the very dawn of the industry! Aldo Mancusi kept the legacy of Caruso “alive” at the Enrico Caruso Museum in his Brooklyn home for over 40 years.
Now, many of the premier pictures, artifacts and personal belongings of Caruso are on permanent display in the new Caruso Gallery on the third floor of Casa Belvedere. Join us for a short lecture and video presentation of these two great men, followed by a tour of the Gallery.
About the presenter: Lou Barrella has been a dedicated music educator for over 50 years, specializing in Music and Opera Appreciation. He has presented workshops and organized student trips for the Education Department of the Metropolitan Opera for 40 years and continues to do so. He has been a guest lecturer at colleges, museums and cultural institutions and has made over 900 presentations since 1993, including over 75 for the Italian Cultural Foundation at Casa Belvedere since 2010. Lou was instrumental in establishing the Enrico Caruso Gallery on the mansion’s third floor. He has assisted in many other Casa events including the annual Car Show & Italian Festival, special luncheon and dinners, the Presepio, and outdoor cinema nights.
