$70 members, $80 non-members

Can you cook with extra virgin olive oil? Does it have a low smoke point? Does it get better with age? Why are most bottles green?

Join us for a tasting of Colavita extra virgin olive oils from Italy, Spain, Greece and California. The program will be led by Colavita’s Certified Master Chef Ken Arnone (a Staten Island native). Chef Arnone will explain the production process, impact of terroir, classifications of EVOO, and how to properly use extra virgin olive oils in your kitchen for cooking, marinating, dressings, baking and more! We will be tasting a variety of oils to understand the fundamental differences.

At the end of the program, each guest will receive a .25L bottle of Colavita extra virgin olive oil and one pound of Colavita pasta to take home. A complimentary sample of Pasta with Pesto will be offered. Wine and soft drinks will be available for purchase.

Colavita serves 76 countries. It is a trusted family brand of fine Italian products, founded in Italy and best known for its Italian Extra Virgin Olive Oils.

About Chef Arnone

Chef Arnone has understood the importance of food from the time he was a young child, watching his grandmother cooking for the family to working at Dunkin’ Donuts at age 13. His culinary passion continued to grow even while he was receiving his BS in Economics in SUNY Albany, working in local eateries. After college, Chef Arnone worked on Wall Street as a stockbroker, expanding his knowledge of business.

Even as he succeeded in the financial sector, he knew he would return to his true passion – cooking. Chef Arnone went on to graduate from the Culinary Institute of America with honors. He has traveled the globe, exploring the cuisine of many countries. He settled back in New York City at the prestigious Marriott Marquis Hotel.

He returned to his alma mater, the Culinary Institute of America, as a professor, before going on to run one of the school’s most successful restaurants – Caterina de’ Medici. Always pushing himself, Chef Arnone became a Certified Master Chef in 2003, one of only 72 in the country.
