Have they ever wanted to write their own script?
If so, this zany and fun class is the one for them! Join us for the fundamentals of drama and script building course while learning about the traditional Italian style of physical comedy, Commedia dell’Arte!

This course will introduce students to Commedia dell’Arte characters, explore lazzi (standard comedic routines), and study the history of Italian Comedy while learning basic theater performance techniques. During the second half of the course, students will collaborate and create their own original script highlighting the classic Italian characters. The course will culminate in a final Zoom performance for students’ family and friends!

About the Instructor: Stefanie Anarumo is an actor, director, and educator. She has performed with Deaf West Theatre, Pasadena Playhouse, New York Theatre Workshop, NY Deaf Theatre, The Hippodrome State Theatre, and the Public Theater’s PublicWorks’ production of Twelfth Night at the Delacorte Theater. Directing credits: Annie at the Hollywood Bowl (Assistant Director to Michael Arden), the world premiere play Billy and Me at Palm Beach Dramaworks (Assistant Director to William Hayes), 129 Miles from Walmart: an evening of new works at the Key West Theater (Director/ Writer), and Bridging the Gap at New World Stages to benefit the Actor’s Fund (Assistant Director to Jonathan Bernstein). As a Fulbright scholar, she resided in Rome, Italy where she created Il Teatro per Bambini Sordi: a children’s theater for Deaf and hearing students. She is on Faculty at The Performing Arts Project and a member of the Actor’s Equity Association. She holds a BFA in Theatre Performance and a Certification in Arts in Healthcare from the University of Florida. She is a recent graduate from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, where she holds an Ed.M. degree in Arts in Education.
