  • Writing the Italian in Your Memories: Fall/Winter 2023-2024 Edition with author Maria Giura
    7:00 PM-9:00 PM
    11/16/2023

Writing the Italian in Your Memories: Fall/Winter 2023-2024 Edition with author Maria Giura

Thursday, Nov. 16, 7 to 9 pm In Person and Virtual
Saturday, Dec. 2, 10 am to noon Virtual
Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024, 10 am to noon Virtual (Revision)

No experience necessary: just a notebook, pen and desire to record the past!

As Italians and Italian-Americans (IA), when we look back on our past – recent or distant – our stories are often intertwined with our culture: its richness, expectations, challenges and humor. During these workshops led by author and instructor Maria Giura, we’ll explore how culture forms the background or foreground of our memories.

During the first two workshops on Nov. 16 and Dec. 2, participants will read short, vibrant excerpts written by IA authors and write their own original piece. The Nov. 16 workshop will be in person at Casa Belvedere.

During the Jan. 6 revision workshop, participants will get feedback on something they’ve already written. For this last workshop, once you have registered, you will be asked to email in advance a writing piece that is maximum 700 words.

Join us for one, two or all three workshops, which will leave you with concrete suggestions to get you closer to the truth of your story.

Links for these workshops will be sent before each session unless you choose the In-Person option for Nov. 16. The fee for each workshop is $27, or $30 for non-members. There is a member discount for family members.
